Since 2002, OnCourse's mission has been to bring people and technology together to make extraordinary education possible.
To support this mission, OnCourse invites you to apply for a new competitive grant to support initiatives aimed at improving student growth. This competitive grant program is a one-school year grant opportunity beginning on October 14, 2019 and culminating on June 30, 2020. A total of $20,000 will be awarded, with four (4) $5000 grants as the initial offering. Grant values are subject to change based on submissions.
This grant is not for individual school staff members; but rather for districts or schools.
We are interested in projects that are both growth-focused and tech-enhanced.
All applicants will be required to describe how they will implement programs aligned to one or more of the following focus areas, a set of school growth goals that OnCourse believes are best achieved with technology support.
Achieve Alignment of Academic Standards and Instructional Tools
When curriculum, lesson planning, instruction, and assessment are all connected by one common thread, the state standards, it makes the instructional process run smoothly. Strong instructional practices not only require a strong alignment to standards, but also an effective integration into the school's instructional technology tools. How can we best implement a cohesive, aligned program?
Improve Achievement by Removing Barriers for Teachers and Office Staff
Teachers are one of the biggest influences on student success. How can we reduce or eliminate unnecessary burdens that educators experience and free them up to perform their most meaningful work?
Reduce Absenteeism with Data-Guided Interventions
Students are absent for a number of reasons: from transportation issues to lacking access to clean clothes. How can we combat chronic absenteeism with a holistic and data-informed approach?
Implement Assessment that is Integrated, Rigorous, and Data-Rich
Assessment is a part of the daily school routine, but are we assessing the right content, with the right students, in the right way? When we intentionally pair content and students with the assessments types that match best, we get an accurate reading of student understanding.
Explore Analytics for the Whole Child
Data is most meaningful when it is harmoniously integrated into daily tasks; not hidden away in a warehouse. How can we make impactful decisions about our students using meaningful multiple measures, without getting trapped filling out spreadsheets and losing the promised instructional value?
Four one-school year grants of $5,000 each will be awarded. These grant funds may be used for programs aimed at improving student achievement through innovative ideas and initiatives.
Applicants will be required to describe how they will quantify and measure their current and desired states. Districts will receive bonus points for using OnCourse products to implement or monitor their program. If the applicant feels that data could be tracked in OnCourse, but is not yet, please submit and detail the features that you need to make your program successful.
One application per school will be accepted, and will be received on a first-come, first-served basis.
Use of Funds
All grant funds must be used for initiating and implementing or expanding programming aimed at improving student growth.
